5 Ways To Reputation Mastery.

I often have the privilege to be interviewed for different articles or pods, and the last question is almost always - could you give three or five pieces of advice to the readers or listeners how to build reputation mastery. So here are five that are quick to read but take the time to master.

Realize that Self Awareness is Other Awareness.

Those who understand themselves, what motivates them, their unique qualities and bugs will be successful, but we need help from our professional surroundings. We are surprisingly bad at seeing ourselves, our strengths and flaws as others see them. The question that arises is who knows us best, and my answer will be - others. Your reputation is in the eyes of the beholder and is the best measure of your talents and captures your potential.

Invest in exploring your reputation.

Knowing your reputation is crucial knowledge and the foundation for your success, and it's an excellent idea to have it analyzed by experts. It will cost some money, but so will cutting your hair or having a massage and I assure you that it will be the best investment that you ever make. When you get acquainted with your perceived strengths, let them be your main development area.

Expectations Rule.

Reputation is what people expect you to accomplish next and how you will do it, which is the reason why you’re being hired. Let’s face it; people will buy from you, work with you, invest in you and hire you based on your professional reputation and the expectations that it kicks off. It goes far beyond introducing your expertise, credentials, and history.

Release the Beta version of you turning your weaknesses into bugs.

We can learn from apps. Most mornings you see those red dots indicating that they have been updated being released in a Beta version. It’s time to release the Beta version of you and eliminate the word weakness from your vocabulary and replace it with bugs. Some bugs you can live with, some needs to be updated and some you should put on your To Don’t list to get rid of over time. Build on your strengths, handle your bugs and consider what is missing - what can you add to create something unique.

Reputation builds on performance and commitment.

Reputation always relies on performance, not what you say about yourself. To have an ambition is rather weak, it’s like wishing. Instead, make a commitment on what you want to accomplish and go for it. We always hear this discussion going on about average, god enough or excellent work. Instead, consider when you’re proud of your results since this will set the right level for you.
